Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro M2, 8GB RAM (2022)

I was using an Intel-based 16” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I’ve never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the incredibly heavy loads I put it through with our various launch simulations.

The ultimate 49" HiDPI display for professionals. Perfect for those who need massive screen real estate and ultra-sharp visuals to work at a planetary scale.

  • Logitech MX Keys Mini Keyboard

A compact, reliable, and ergonomic keyboard designed for productivity. With excellent key feel and build quality, it’s my go-to choice for seamless typing and performance.

  • Logitech MX Master 3s Mouse

An advanced and ergonomic mouse packed with customizable gestures, making multitasking effortless. It’s the perfect tool for feeling like a productivity wizard.

  • Terabyte White Throne Chair

If I’m going to slouch in the worst ergonomic position imaginable all day, I might as well do it in an expensive chair.

  • 32GB DDR5 Memory RAM

High-speed DDR5 memory that delivers unmatched performance for multitasking, gaming, and professional workloads. A must-have for any high-end PC build.

  • Ryzen 9 7950X Processor

AMD's flagship processor with 16 cores and blazing-fast performance. Perfect for demanding tasks like gaming, content creation, and heavy multitasking.

  • GeForce RTX 4090 Graphics Card

NVIDIA's most powerful GPU, delivering unparalleled performance for gaming, 3D rendering, and AI workloads. The ultimate choice for pushing visual limits.

Development tools

  • iTerm2

I’m honestly not even sure what features I get with this that aren’t just part of the macOS Terminal but it’s what I use.

  • Visual Studio Code (VSCode)

A lightweight, yet powerful code editor with extensive customization options. Perfect for developers of all levels, offering seamless integrations and a rich extension ecosystem.

  • JetBrains DataGrip

A powerful database IDE designed for developers. It simplifies querying, visualization, and database management, making it an essential tool for working with complex data.

Design

  • Figma

We started using Figma as just a design tool but now it’s become our virtual whiteboard for the entire company. Never would have expected the collaboration features to be the real hook.
